Matthew Barney’s Cremaster 5 will be screened at the Eye Film Museum, Amsterdam, as part of the ‘Eye on Art’ programme. The screening showcases the final segment of Barney’s The Cremaster Cycle, a series of five visually extravagant films created out of sequence between 1994 and 2002. On 18 March 2025, the screening will be preceded by an introduction by opera director and curator Sjaron Minailo, who will discuss the shift towards the visual arts in opera and touch on The Cremaster Cycle’s exploration of human creativity, sagas, myths and biological processes.

We congratulate Matthew Barney on becoming an Honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Matthew Barney has been elected into the Department of Arts and will be inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters during its annual Ceremonial in May 2024.
