SIGMAR POLKE
The Prigge Cabinet
collection of approximately 500 publications and ephemera on Sigmar Polke

The Prigge Cabinet is a large-scale cabinet showcasing almost all publications on and by the German artist, Sigmar Polke (1941–2010). Meticulously collected by the late Thomas Prigge – who followed Polke’s exhibitions and publications fastidiously from the late 1960s – the cabinet presents a comprehensive archive of exhibition catalogues, monographs, rare artist books, limited edition publications, and catalogues with original drawings by the artist, as well as souvenirs including invitation cards, leaflets, flyers and stickers, among other ephemera. Spanning from the very beginnings of Polke’s career to the most recent publications of his work, the archive is a testament to Prigge’s dedication and passion as a collector.
We are pleased to share an illustrated overview documenting the full archive here, created on the occasion of the exhibition Sigmar Polke: “ZEITREISE”. Photographs 1966–1986. Collection Georg Polke, which took place at Galerie Max Hetzler, Goethestraße 2/3, Berlin, in 2020.
