Three half-figures by Hans Josephsohn are included in the 12th edition of Lustwarande Godhead – Idols in Times of Crisis, at the Park De Oude Warande in Tilburg, on view until 2 October 2022.

This exhibition investigates the power of contemporary figurative and abstract sculpture as idols by presenting a connected yet diverse group of works which, to a greater or lesser extent, whether consciously or unconsciously, refers to the tradition of devotional sculpture. Godhead – Idols in Times of Crisis presents a select sample of contemporary idols, an alternative scenario for the empty pedestals that are emerging, to offer new meaning, hope and support within the public space.
